AG-ESS

 

The software AG-ESS used for data analysis is located on a CD that accompanies the class textbook. On this CD there is a total of five programs: REFRACT - REFLECT - RESIST - GRAVMAG - DIFFRACT.

All of the software modules are designed to run on both Macintosh and Windows systems, can perform forward and inverse modeling, and support all the major exploration methods covered in the book.

OASIS MONTAJ

 

OASIS MONTAJ offers an extensive package of data analysis and graphics programs for investigating the gravity and magnetic exploration topics.

 

This class offers only a cursory introduction to the package, and it is strongly encouraged to explore aggressively the many high-level capabilities of Oasis Montaj to better appreciate its power in analyzing and interpreting potential field observations.

The Video Tutorials describe the magnetic and gravity data processing operations of Oasis Montaj that are utilized for the Geosoft-based exercises. This is a generic tutorial for Oasis Montaj but the examples used are taken from an exercise dealing with magnetic and gravity anomaly data of Minnesota.
